  • Rosary at the Grotto, Glengoole on Friday 6pm

Eucharistic Adoration

  • Glengoole Wed 10am to 2pm 
  • Gortnahoe Thurs 10am to 1pm.

Baptisms
We welcome James John Stokes, Graiguemane, Coalbrook, both as a member of our parish community and as a member of God’s family.

The Rosary
The Rosary will be recited before Mass in Glengoole every Saturday evening.

Cemetery Masses
Cemetery Masses at 7.30pm on the following date:

  • Tues, Aug 12th  – Boulick Cemetery

In the event of inclement weather, masses will be celebrated in either Glengoole or Gortnahoe Churches.

Peter’s Pence Collection
Many thanks to all who contributed to this collection last weekend supporting the charitable and apostolic work of the Pope. The funds collected are used to support those in need, aiding victims of natural disasters and conflicts, and funding the Holy See’s various ministries. If you are paying by cheque, please make the cheque payable to “Gortnahoe Parish”.

Epilepsy Ireland Collection
Epilepsy Ireland Churchgate Collection next weekend 16th and 17th August.

Order of the Knights of Saint Columbanus
Annual Men's Retreat in Saint Munchins College, Corbally, Limerick, on Saturday. Sept 20th  from 10 am to 5 pm.  The theme of the retreat is: "Jesus, I trust in you - The starting point for spiritual growth".  Lunch will be provided, and donation for the day is €20.  Please contact Declan at 087 618 7586 or Gerry at 087 410 6025 for further information.

National Novena to Our Lady of Knock
At Knock Shrine from 13th to 21st August with daily ceremonies at 3pm and 8pm. Daily workshops at 12.45pm and themed guided prayer sessions are available in Knock Prayer Centre. Theme for this year is “Pilgrims of Hope”. See posters in Church porches for further details.

Cathedral Reroofing Project Fundraisers

  • Scrap Metal Collection at Thurles Mart on Fri 29th and Sat 30th August. All types of Scrap Metal accepted and greatly appreciated. Collection Service – contact Phil on 087 2420074.
  • MICHAEL ENGLISH and his band: “Faith, Hope and Inspiration Concert” in the Cathedral on Friday, September 26th. Ticket Donation: €30. Tickets on sale in Parish Office, Cathedral Street (0504 22229) and Bookworm, Liberty Square (0504 22257).

Ballynonty Festival
The Liam McCarthy Cup will be at Ballynontyy Festival on Sunday at 3pm.

  • Saturday 9th August – Concert 8pm with Folk That. Barbecue and Raffle.
  • Sunday 10th August 2pm – Fancy dress parade, kid’s races, dog show and bingo

Music on the Reen
Sunday, 17th August commencing at 2pm. All are welcome. Raffle with great prizes. Refreshments available. All are welcome.

Split the Pot
Split the Pot for the month of August will be for Ballysloe Tidy Towns. Envelopes will be available in all the usual spots and in Gortnahoe Hall after mass.

Bingo every Saturday
Gortnahoe Bingo every Saturday evening at 4pm. Over €2,660 in prize money.

Prayer for the Assumption of Mary

Immaculate Mary, assumed into heaven,
teach us to trust in God’s plan the way you did.
Do not let us fear obstacles or uncertainties.
Inspire us and pray for us this week,
as we celebrate your Assumption. Amen.
