The Rosary
The Rosary will be recited before Mass in Glengoole every Saturday evening.

Day of Prayer and Reflection for Gaza
Day of Prayer and Reflection for Gaza will take place on Sunday, 24th August For 24 hours on this Sunday, people in all parishes across Ireland, are being asked to unite in a Day of Prayer and Reflection for the suffering people of Gaza, either here in the Church or in the quiet of your own home. The situation in Gaza has deteriorated further. Innocent lives continue to be lost while hunger, violence and devastation tighten their grip on a people caught in the crossfire. This 24-hour call to prayer is a call to hope, Please consider:

  • Attending Mass and offering it for peace in Gaza
  • Spending time in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament
  • Praying the Rosary for peace and justice
  • Lighting a candle at home or in your parish church
  • Making a small personal sacrifice or act of penance
  • Reaching out to your political representatives to advocate for justice and humanitarian aid
  • Supporting trusted aid organizations bringing relief to Gaza

Legion of Mary
Visiting legionaries will be outside both churches next weekend 30th and 31st August to meet people after mass.

Community First Responders (CFRs)
These are trained local volunteers who arrive before an ambulance, giving lifesaving help when it’s needed most. Volunteers are urgently needed in Gortnahoe area.  Details available at a community meeting in Gortnahoe Hall on Wed. next, August 27th at 7.30pm.

Gortnahoe-Glengoole Youth Club
Registration night on Friday, August 29th in Gortnahoe Community Hall at 7pm. Places are allocated on first come first served basis. Annual Membership - €30 for 1 child or €50 per family.

A Miner’s Life through Song and Story
Way Down Underground, A Miner’s Life through Song and Story on Friday, 29th August in Derrynaflan Theatre, Horse and Jockey Hotel at 8.30pm. Doors open 8pm. Tickets €15 at https://buytickets.at/waydownunderground or TEXT 086 1960157 to reserve.

Monster Metal Scrap Collection Fundraiser
In aid of Cathedral Reroofing Project at Thurles Mart, next Fri & Sat, August 29th & 30th.  All types of Scrap Metal accepted. Collection Service available – please contact Phil on 087 2420074.

Voices of the Abbey - 50th Anniversary
Voices of the Abbey - 50th Anniversary of the Restoration of Holycross Abbey on Sat., 30th August at 8pm in Holycross Community Centre. A series of videos of people associated with the Abbey - what the Abbey was like before, during and after the Restoration. Free event, with a break for refreshments and a raffle.

Our Lady of Fatima National Pilgrimage
In Holycross Abbey on Sunday, August 31st. Rosary at 2.30pm followed by Stations of the Cross at 3pm, Anointing of the Sick at 3.40pm and Mass at 4pm with Celebrant, Fr. Vincent Stapleton. All are welcome.

Men on the Move
Exercise Classes with Biddy O’Dwyer return on Monday 1st Sept. in MFRC, Glengoole, 11:15am – 12:15pm. Enjoy some light exercise followed by a cup of tea and a chat. Further information contact Alice Teehan 083-1014313.

God of mercy and compassion, of grace and reconciliation, pour your power upon all your children in the Middle East: Jews, Muslims and Christians, Palestinians and Israelis. Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope, oppression to freedom, occupation to liberation, that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces, and peace and justice could be experienced by all.
